From Green Label to CLIMA

Lonati upgrades by replacing Green Label with the new Clima certification.

According to EPRS, the European Parliament Research Service, apparel and footwear production is responsible for 10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Environmental impact can be reduced through the development of new technologies and more efficient processes, which is why ACIMIT, launched the Sustainable Technologies project back in 2011 with Green Label, with the aim of increasing the commitment of Italian textile machinery manufacturers to invest in sustainability. The "CLIMA: Committed to Low Impact Machinery" project is its direct evolution.

Like Green Label, CLIMA certification is a recognition of the environmental and energy performance of textile machinery, with the aim of identifying and enhancing the environmental and energy performance of machinery and supporting the environment with solutions for technological excellence in Italian textile machinery.

To obtain CLIMA certification, companies can contact Next Technology Tecnotessile, which assists in measuring the energy and environmental performance of machines, compiling the necessary documentation and entering the data obtained into the ACIMIT tool for CLIMA certification.

The CLIMA plate reports the partial Carbon Footprint (CFP) related only to the use phase of the machinery, and calculated for a specific reference process for that type of machine. The plate is generated following the procedure contained in the CLIMA Project Implementation Regulations, whose compliance with the Regulations has been verified by a third party.

The objectives are to monitor the environmental and energy performance of textile machines, effectively communicate the results (through a statement developed according to a shared procedure), and promote the continuous improvement of the machines.
